About the Research Center

The University of Iceland's Research Center in Húsavík was founded in fall 2007, followed by the first research. The Center was formely opened on the 4th of December 2008 in a new building in the Harbor area of Húsavík. The Research Center directs and supports marine biology researches in cooperation with universities and other institutes, in Iceland and abroad, involving both teaching and researching.

The centre is directed by Dr. Marianne Helene Rasmussen, a leading specialst in marine mammal research.
